INTRODUCTION

I do like to travel and wherever I go I like to drink the best beers in the best bars. This means researching before I go in order to not end up in other people's idea of a good place to go so just bringing a guide book is not the answer.

I thought it might be a good idea to actually attempt to record my findings so others may benefit from the time I spend seeking out the best that each place has to offer rather than just making notes on beer mats and scraps of paper which is what I usually do. Also, it may help me to recall where the heck I went as beer and remembering precisely where and when I did something does not mix well.

Naturally, I will always try and get my hands on any local (or national) beer drinkers' guide before I go (or when I'm there) but these are notoriously out of date, subjective and usually unwieldy to carry when, as I always do, you are already carrying a phone, a bottle of water, a packet of jaffa cakes and a banana.

If there are already guides out there why the need for another one you may ask? Well, I have already stated that I want to go to the BEST places serving the BEST beers that any area has to offer and my experience is that guides tend to be either too comprehensive, covering every pub, or too general, naming only fashionable or popular bars that are of no interest to a majority of beer drinkers. Therefore, most places will only need a pamphlet to cover the outright must-visits or a small booklet if it's an especially good place for malt 'n' hops.

If this interests you then read on and visit regularly ...
